some of you may know that i dabble in events...
truly getting my feet wet, if you will and loving every second of it!
while i am JUST starting out
i have had the pleasure of helping plan, locate vendors,
fully execute and create inspiration boards for many events.
most recently i planned and co-hosted my younger sisters birthday party!
while my mom is indeed a saint and i have some fairly decent patience
NO ONE could ever prepare you for 17 girls in one room!
with a little help from pinterest,
having experienced many of my own spa days and trying to remain kid friendly...
it went a little something like this!
***
as you will see throughout the pics
i did make all my own graphics for her party
It was something I enjoyed BUT I am super duper perfectionist
so it took me a while to settle on fonts lol!
i thought in true "spa" form - the best way to maintain order
and no hassle was as each child arrived have them check in.
that was then the order, they each received their manicures.
there could literally be no arguing - fair and simple!
i set up a small table with the "goodies"
purchased a variety of polishes, tools
(including buffers, remover, files & the best $2.95 i've ever spent on nail dry in a can)
even gave the gals an itinerary of what their spa day included.
yes that's right, chocolate facials were a total HIT!
i cannot locate the exact site of the recipe however i used...
yogurt, honey, dry oats & cocoa powder
blended it all together and applied with a scrubbing brush.
there was such a big batch and it is still in the freezer
and can be thawed out and reused - just add extra dry oats!
they were a great exfoliator!
a little messy but totally awesome
next time maybe i'd rethink this bc it was one hell of a hot day!
i wish i could share the video of the girls screaming how much they loved it!
some of the polishes
( i had the birthday girl pick out a few and i also went with what was on trend)
most requested color that day was...
essie - bikini so teeny
they also were extra spoiled with massages while they dried ;)
as soon as all the girls were arrived and got comfy
after some dancing, chatting and magazine reading ( like a real waiting room)
i welcomed them into phase 2 of the party
( this is the spare room in my parents home )
fortunately we didn't have to move too much furniture to make this work.
i had the table lined with bowls ,
every girl came in and had their pre-soak to freshen up!
inside was warm water and an epsom salt mixture...
then after they soaked i had them each take their "swag bag"
which was filled with the items below!
a freezable eye/face mask - a headband
(to keep their hair back during their chocolate facials & for after)
a compact & a friendship bracelet ;-)
our menu that day was simple:
while the girls waited their turns for manicures
they all snacked on
fruit kabobs, veggie platter and a signature drink
(which was seltzer and pink lemonade)
after all manicures & facials were done
the girls had pizza and cake and played some games
17 for manicures and 10 for a sleepover
it was indeed, pandemonium!
then it was time for cake, i spare nothing when it comes to my sisters birthday cakes!
i always go a little beyond and everyone always raves about it.
(pat on the back for me)
i make from scratch when it's necessary but a boxed cake NEVER hurt NO'BODY!
here's a quick peak at the cupcakes & extra ;)
my sister LOVES color,
as you can tell these matched the color or the bowls too
i threw an oreo in the bottom of every cupcake liner, what an awesome surprise!
sure did! i took all the extra batter and threw it in a single round pan.
no rhyme or reason - no layer, no pattern!
the funkier - the better
my sister was floored and her friends were fascinated!
also a very big inside scoop for you:
nearly everything was purchased at the christmas tree shop & the dollar store!
you really cannot go wrong with disposable, reusable and cheap items
and at the end of the day i was VERY very under budget!
all in all the girls had a great day
i would highly recommend a party like this
